Since  establishment of laboratory in Punjab Pollution Control Board is monitoring rivers- Satluj, Beas , Ghaggar and Ravi in Surface water section under various schemes- earlier MINARS (Monitoring of Indian Aquatic Resources) and now NWMP (National Water Monitoring Programme) funded by Central Pollution Control Board. Presently, samples from 37 locations (Annexure A) in Punjab are collected quarterly and analysed by Regional Offices and Head Office Staff. Results of various parameters (Annexure B) are sent to PPCB online via Environment Data Bank.

From time to time samples from various wetlands viz. Harike, Kanjali and Ropar are collected and analysed under different schemes funded by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. Of India.

Samples from various Drains, Canals and industrial effluents collected by various regional Offices are also analysed and results are sent to these offices.
